Aviana

I realize I have not posted an actual update on Aviana lately. Things have been progressing VERY slowly. She does open her eyes occasionally and that is so nice to see. I was down there for many hours today and spoke with the doctor. Aviana was primarily in the care of the neurology staff, but today they now feel she is in a stable enough position to be turned over to the PICU for all decisions. Neurology will still be looking in on her, but they do not feel they need to write all of the orders for her anymore.

The doctor let me know that they have her scheduled for Friday to replace the bone flaps. I will keep my fingers crossed and hope they don't have some sort of emergency which would bump Aviana's surgery to next week. I am so excited for them to be put back in, the neurologist said they don't exactly know why, but once in, the patient does much better. I happen to think it is because people feel WHOLE again : ) Just my two cents!

Aviana has been breathing on her own, they do not feel she needs the ventilator for breathing anymore. They are going to wait on pulling it though. They want to make sure she is able to clear her airway on her own. What a little superstar! Aviana looked SO good today. She felt even better. She finally feels like my little girl.

She was MUCH more relaxed and was not posturing today. Her arms and legs felt like HER. I can't describe it, but before today her skin was SO tight and she just didn't feel quite right. I couldn't keep my hands off of her! I wonder if she was thinking "Enough already Mommy...stop touching me!"

I don't think so though.

  6. I've spent the past few hours reading from entry #1. I first heard about your sweet little Aviana on Sunday when I went to a garage sale to pick up a baby backpack. The sweet woman who was running it from her home shared with me the details she knew of your daughter and wrote down your blog address for me. I live in California but grew up in the Roseville/Granite Bay area and am currently visiting my mom.

My prayers are with your sweet daughter and your family. My heart aches for you and the agony you have been in during the past few weeks. Last June, we lost our 14 month old daughter, Emma in a drowning accident. The doctors did everything they could but they couldn't bring her back. And although we still struggle, I can't imagine how you must feel every single day, wondering if your sweet little one is going to pull through. My heart just hurts for you and my thoughts and prayers are with you. I wish I could take that pain away from you and your sweet little girl.

I am so grateful that you have had incredible support from your family and friends and from what I've gathered, complete strangers.

You are all in my prayers and I hope and pray that Aviana will come through this. I pray the doctors will be successful and have God by their sides as their do this next surgery.

    With love and sincerity,
    Rachel Tehvand

Aviana is such a precious little girl and I pray that she has a good recovery. Seems as though she is getting better and better each day. She sure is a beautiful girl.
