Don't open them!!! Or at least have someone else look them over with a fine-toothed comb to make sure they didn't overcharge or double up on anything. They ALWAYS do. And then don't worry about them, they will be there tomorrow, the next day...and nine months from now (trust me!). Just focus on Aviana and all her progress and the rest will fall into place.
I second Gina's comment. They always make errors, over charge, double bill. Especially when there is an extended hospital stay. It is just the nature of the medical coding beast. When I had leg surgery, the procedure was pre-approved. The insurance paid the surgeon, the assisting doctor, the surgery center, but refused to pay for anesthesia. What was I supposed to do, bite a strap of leather? In the end it was just a coding error on the hospital's part.
Going through that paperwork can cause a lot of stress, and you both have had enough of that. Maybe one of your friends can go through it and highlight anything funky. We all want to help, so why not delegate to a girlfriend?
I am with everyone else, its just one more worry that is important but isn't compared to your daughter. I worked in a doctors office understood insurance and yet it still took me a full year to have them fix the way they billed for 2 surgery's on my husbands leg. Find someone that knows or somewhat understands insurance and maybe they can take over some of this burden to make sure this part of it is done right, its just simply not important, you just worry about your daughter.
Well I will say that the counters those evil bills sit atop looks lovely. I agree for now you have enough to worry about tuck those bills in a nice near pile and go rock your baby girl. That, BTW, was the most beautiful picture I've ever seen!!
Are these the bills after your insurance has already paid their portion!?!? If that is the case, I'm hoping they are less than a $1 for each bill:) If you don't have insurance, please let us know how we can help ease your burden.
Jen I am your neighbor across the street and on the corner. I would love to be able to help you. If you will send me that beautiful photo of you and Avi in high resolution, I will gladly print T-shirts for sale to all of us who follow your blog. We are all praying for Aviana, we would all like to help you in any way we can. Merry mtjheizer@att.net
Hi. You don't know me. I am a friend of your friend, Jill. She was visiting us when she found out about the accident and I have been following Aviana's progress ever since.
I don't know you either,(though I feel I do a little), but I know you posted about the 29 bills just to note the sheer audicity of it. I also know that people would like to help you guys out. There would be NOTHING wrong with setting up a fund, on this site, that people could contribute to. It would really be great to feel as though we were helping in some small way.
I would be more than glad to organize a shop for some goodies, too. I do a little graphic design and have friends that are professionals. Have you seen zazzle? You can create everything from custom Keds to neckties to skateboards. My sister and I are into photography as a hobby, and would be glad to use it to help ease the burden on your family. If there are any crafters or artists out there, we can set up an Etsy shop as well. Or we could get some awareness bracelets printed. Anything to help Avi and her wonderful family.
WOW! I haven't been on the blog in about a week and I am sitting here at work trying to catch up. All I can say is "WOW"! I am soooooo glad to hear of Aviana's improvements. You guys are so blessed and so is she. This is just absolutely wonderful. I'll try to keep up from now on. Love you guys, Becci & Angela
Jen, my sister went thru the same, and I tell you that when it is all done taking care of getting Aviana well first, sit down and go over it all, see first what your insurance covers, then you contact the Hospitals that Aviana was in, and they honestly work with you and lower the bills to where you can manage on your income. I think it is horrible when you are in the middle of a horrible situation to burden and worry you, but it is what they do. And also, don't worry about threats if you get, as they always do, but never follow up on it. Just contact them and they will stop it too. I think they just need to know you care to work with them some how. And yes, let everyone else know what you need for help too, don't try to manage all of this alone. Ask for help..don't be too proud to, ok? You have a lot of people that care and are willing to help in whatever way they can. Bless your hearts..(((Gentle hugs)))
On behalf of the Officers at the Roseville Police Dept, I want to express my sincerest sympathy to your family and little Aviana. We have been following her progress and praying for her continued improvement. Few things affect an Officer more than when a sweet little girl like Aviana gets injured. I can tell you that several of the officers that responded to investigate the accident have been greatly affected by your situation. Several of them have children Aviana's age, including myself. We find it offensive that you now face a fincial burdon in addition to your emotional pain. We would like to help with your fincial burdon, please just let us know what we can do. We will wait for a posting on this site.
Praying that somehow you guys can get a financial blessing to help with those!
ReplyDeleteI am so sorry, hoping and praying there will be some help available or doctor's accept what the ins. pays. Thoughts and prayers are with you.

ReplyDeleteI don't know if it's my pc, but I'm finding it really hard to read the text now.
ReplyDeleteWhatever - I get the gist that things may be financially a bit scary now - please let Spitfire Aviana's followers know if and how we can help.
