More About You Mondays

"Without music, life would be a mistake."

~ Friedrich Nietzsche

This quote sums up most of my answer for last weeks question.

Some of the other things that make me feel completely alive are animals, rain, and the fresh, crisp Tahoe air.

Those few things make for the perfect day ;o)

I hope you had a nice Easter holiday!

**********************************************************************************

In the name of music, today's question, or questions are...

Who are your favorite bands?

What are your favorite songs?

"When words leave off, music begins."

~ Heinrich Heine

"Music washes away from the soul the dust of everyday life."

~ Berthold Auerbach

  1. Some of my favorite bands would be the Beatles, Bon Jovi, Aerosmith, U2, Spinners, Commodores, Jackson 5, Eagles, Guns 'n Roses, Celtic Thunder, Earth Wind & Fire, Carpenters, ......there are more but I can't think of them right now. Barry Manilow but I guess he wouldn't be considered a band. Oh, I loved the Partridge Family! Back in the 70's, I had almost every song on the Partridge Family Album memorized.

It's so difficult to come up with a favorite song. My mom used to sing You Are My Sunshine to me and I sang it to my daughters when they were little. I love Ave Maria even though I don't know all the words to it. All the songs in The Sound of Music. There are just too many I like. What are your favorites?

  2. Ahhhhh.......Ruby! Yes! The Partridge Family....definitely on my ALL TIME FAV list :)

I have a very eclectic musical palate........GFA, Kenny Chesney, Bruce Springsteen, Queen, Journey,Styx, Loggins & Messina, Santana, Malo, the Oakridge Boys, Alabama, the Commodores, Sammy Hagar, Toby Keith and so many many more.......

I don't know, picking a favorite song is even harder than picking a favorite performer......each song is special.....brings back a special memory ... A moment frozen in time......for instance LIGHTS takes me home every time.....to my City by the Bay..........and flashes of life appear on the memory screens in my mind

  3. I love SO many different artists and bands.
    My all time favorite?
    Aerosmith.
I'm a huge Pink fan, too. Love, love, love her voice!

I see the lists above my comment and I love so many of those, too!

I just learned how to download music onto my iPod (yes, I'm slow that way- very computer illiterate, but I'm learning!) and in just one hour I think I spent a little over $200 on iTunes. I just can't believe the technology these days. Back when I was a teenager, to get just "one favorite song" was near impossible. You'd have to buy the entire album or cassette tape or CD. (yep, my age...I've seen had them all) But now? You just type in a song title...and there it is! You download it onto your computer or iPod and it's yours. Just ONE song, or an entire album. Just like that.

I still can't get over this. Can you see why I got carried away once I learned how to do it? I just kept seeing song after song after song...and I was like, "How cool is this!!??!!"

    and $200 later...LOL

  5. Something Corporate, Jacks Mannequin, Bright Eyes, Stars, Dashboard Confessional, Weezer, Cake, Aerosmith, Coldplay (I'm surprised they haven't come up yet in the answers!), Eels, Fun, Jimmy Eat World... I could continue. I was listening to "Put Me Back Together" by Weezer the other day and it really reminded me of you and your family, Jen. Give it a listen!
