It's actually for her to breathe in her own carbon dioxide for 55 seconds, which expands the blood vessels and brings more oxygen to her brain. The masking helps to reduce her rigidity, helps her to swallow better and if she were having seizures, would reduce those as well.
We had Joaquin's on this morning too but he is SOOOO not happy about it!! We have some serious challenges and singing to help him keep it on! Avi rocks hers :)!
Oh the hoops you must jump through on a daily basis - Jen you work so hard to bring the best to your little angel! Only Aviana could make an otherwise ordinary looking plastic mask look so darn cute!
Wow...that is quite interesting! Seems to bad there isn't an easier way to 'adhere' it so her 55 seconds can get done "easier". I suppose she has to do this several times/day....wow.
You rock sista! I often think of you during the day...When I am feeling tired, I picture you hitting pans, poking with toothpicks, masking, ramping, et al ... and I suddenly feel that I need to better at counting blessings that counting time outs...
What I noticed. She has a lot of cloths. Avi has a lot of Love all around her. She has this look of patience. Thank-you for explaining what masking is for.
Jen - What is the mask for? Oxygen? Protection against germs? Protecting an incision?
ReplyDeleteShe's beautiful even WITH a plastic mask comin' off the top of her cute head :)

Hi Andrea~

Thank you for your comment :o)

Ok so her beauty is so deep that she even looks amazing with a bag over her head :0)
ReplyDeleteI have to agree. She's a doll no matter what.
ReplyDeleteGive that gorgeous girl a hug and kiss for me. :)
yep...that little girly can sport a bag on her head and still look beautiful! Hugs!
ReplyDeleteYep, that looks like the newest trend to me. Maybe you sell the used ones on Ebay for lots of money! :)
ReplyDeleteWhat a doll! Masking really seems to be so important to do. It is amazing what the body can do to help heal. Amazing!
ReplyDeleteKeep working hard you guys!
