Our Sweet Aviana

Aviana and one of her best friends, Avery. Aviana and her other best friend, Kama.

This was a very exciting night of therapy. Aviana is now strong enough to hold her own weight in the crawling position. She has come a long way and I am so happy to be able to post such beautiful pictures.

You should have seen me..... I was frantically running for the camera, cheering her on, snapping pictures left and right, gulping down a glass of wine, complaining about the diaper.

Therapy can be very exciting, but once over, all three of us are exhausted!

Geeez, put some pants on that girl! I never like it when children are just in diapers and think it is too funny that in this group of pictures she is sportin' that particular fashion :o) There is a pay off to hard work, a nap with your favorite companion! Night, night beautiful!

  1. How wonderful !!! I have been following for awhile now and have never left a comment, but seeing Aviana deserved a comment. You go little girl, keep working hard and it will happen. I know how slow the healing process is with brain injuries, but you have one tough little cookie on your hands...God bless you and your whole family....Gina

  3. WAY TO GO!!!!! Aviana gets her strengh from her mom! I've been meaning to email you back but, well, you know :) Things get busy and next thing you know it's been a month. So proud of YOU, Jen, for never giving up and for encouraging Aviana to do what YOU know she can do. You are both very strong people.

  5. This brought tears of joy to my eyes!! Little by little she will get closer to the precious little one she was before this situation. I am confident that He will help you all through this, and bring you closer than you can ever imagine, and that He will help her fully recover. Children are miracles. I am still cheering and praying on the sidelines. Thank you for sharing. I got a little panicked when you did not post, but am so excited that the wait was worth it.

  8. She's a beauty, it was so good to see her on Sunday. She is a little fighter and you can tell, I dare anyone to think she will not do better, she sure is a little angel. Thanks again to you and Dave. It was fun.

  15. What a beautiful miracle Aviana is, every single day! Of course all children are, but we sometimes take things for granted (always?). Each little step brings you closer and closer to full recovery. Most of us have little idea how much effort this accomplishment took, but we know all three of you (four, counting wonderful Kama) have been working hard from the moment this came into your lives. I continue to pray for daily healing in that little body. I received this link to a video about the brain's ability to heal you might be encouraged by. When scripture says we are "fearfully and wonderfully made" (Psalm 139:14), there is more truth to that than we can even imagine! May God continue to encourage you with large and small steps every day.

Four of our kids are from Guatemala, but we never had the chance to know them as young as Aviana. How I would have loved to see their little brown thighs in a diaper shot. Aviana is so "squeezable"!

  16. So happy to hear this news. Way to go Aviana!!! What an amazing girl! Kama, you get big hugs from us for being such a good friend. (the pics with Kama always make me smile...I have two dogs and they are usually just furry spastic goofballs) So glad Aviana has Kama! Don't worry about the diaper...everyone is looking well past that to your beautiful, determined princess.

    Hugs from us to you,
    Ann and Elianna
